Not keeping good records can be a reflection not only of your business standard, but is a sure fast track to not knowing what is really happening with your business.

If you can see your Profit & Loss Reports, and have the ability to file your GST Records (if registered) direct with IRD (based off your accurate records), then Xero is a fantastic programme to begin with. It offers a many different add-ons to a few different available plans, depending on what you need it to do for you.

Your receipts are loaded against your payments, capital investment and/or sales are shown clearly and your bank account is reconciled and coded according to your unique business requirements.

It's also a great place to keep your prospect database, holding up to 10,000 contacts. Show your prospects and clients that you are professional and invest in a plan that reflects you in a respectable light. One of the secrets with it is, is in the set-up process. If this is done right, from the word go, then the rest is just a breeze. You can easily transfer contact information between other platforms too.

If your paperwork looks professional, then people are more likely to consider you to be someone with a high standard of work too. Don't make the mistake of thinking that you don't need Xero because you are just setting up... that is the best time to start with it.
